Counselor’s Corner Issue 27
Dear God-Extensions,
They call it "the hand of God."
The idea, developed by isolation ward nurses, works to comfort their Covid-19 quarantined patients. Two disposable gloves tied and full of hot water simulates human contact in an impossible situation. These very sick patients are able to experience something similar to having their hand held, all the while insulated in a Coronavirus unit. "I've realized that this hot water glove improved my patient's perfusion and better situation," said Brazilian nurse Lidian Melo. The warmth and contact given by this tool enabled the personal contact simulation needed for continued healing and improved health.
I can, with confidence, call each of you "The Hand of God." You have been instrumental tools that have provided the warmth and personal touch needed for mental wellness and healing through this pandemic. In many ways, you have been the one thing that students could hold onto for stability and consistency in a tumultuous time. YOU have been the key to improved situations and perfusion of hope for our young people! I am so grateful to each of you for being God-simulations in our schools.
Gratefully,
Mindy
