“The Hound Race”
Dear Teacher,
Ludivine the bloodhound loves people. One day, while out for her regular bathroom break, she saw a group gathering at a half marathon start line. Naturally, her dog-instinct led her over to say a friendly 'hello' to the runners.
However, Ludivine's investment in those around her reached new heights in a drastic way, With the 'pop' of the starting pistol, the runners were off. And did Ludivine return to the comfort of her home? Nope. As runners began their race, Ludivine matched their pace, running alongside and encouraging them with every step.
Only when a local race volunteer recognized her at the finish line, was Ludivine reconnected with her master. It was then that the story unfolded: Ludivine had been faithful in her race-running, trotting alongside others with a final finishing time of 1:32:56! Oh, what a celebration when Ludivine returned home sporting a large race metal, an award for finishing first place in the women's division and seventh overall!
And you, teacher, there in your classroom, are running your own kind of race. Your investment in those around you has reached new heights as you differentiate instruction, devise accommodations, and meet student's social-emotional needs. You faithfully run alongside your class, matching their pace. and encouraging them with every step. Oh, what a celebration, then when you are reconnected by your Master and returned home for the award for the races you've run with students.
"And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us."
~Hebrews 12:1
Running with you,
