Counselor’s Corner - December 5, 2022
Dear Teacher,
It was a big gift. An unexpected, once-in-a-lifetime gift. Not one wrapped in paper and ribbons, but rather wrapped in a basketball jersey. You see, sitting by the coach of the Indiana Pacers had its benefits when the ten-year old asked if he could be put into the team scrimmage. Against all established protocol and NBA rules, the whistle was blown and in the kid went, wearing number 24! Adopting the renowned shooting guard's name, 'Lil Buddy Hield, the kid in the oversized jersey was immediately passed the ball and scored a layup. The crowd cheered and another time out was called, this time for an interview. Coach Rick asked what the fans were dying to know: "How did you get in the game?" In return, 'Lil Buddy's simply responded, "I asked."
During the season of gift giving, there is likely a big, unexpected, once-in-a-liftime gift that could come your way. No, it's probably not wrapped in paper and ribbons, but something even greater. It could be that the gift you need is physical healing from disease. Maybe you need restoration of a relationship or marriage. Could you need freedom from anxiety or depression? Just like 'Lil Buddy Hield, we know that we can ask for the big things and be assured that "Whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours [Mark 11:24 NCV].
Celebrating the gift of you,
