Counselor’s Corner - March 11 Issue
Dear Heat-Protectors,
Last Friday I walked into the Family and Consumer Sciences classroom where twenty-five sixth graders were busy at their individual cooking stations. With sounds of Sinatra music swelling and aromas of individual pizzas wafting, the happiness filled the air. The cooking teams chattered, needing their homemade pizza dough and topping with chosen toppings.
Fifteen minutes later as I returned my student from an individual counseling session, the pizzas were just being pulled from the open. Mrs. Hopkins, the Home Economics teacher, stood side-by-side three boys and exclaimed, "Isn't this parchment. paper neat? It doesn't even get hot in the oven! It protects you from the heat!"
Her comment reminded me of another oven, hot on the plains of Dura. It was there that another Teacher stood side-by-side three different boys. These kids were feeling the heat too: The heat of peer pressure, being away from home at boarding academy, and that of being different. And yet, in the midst of those flames, God put up His protective armor around those precious students and protected them from the heat.
Thank you, teachers, for being flame retardants for our students!
Gratefully,
Mindy
