Counselor’s Corner - April 24 Issue

Dear Fruit-Bearers,

As some of you begin to till the soil, plant the seeds, and fertilize for your summer gardens, I'm reminded of a story told by another Gardner.

In the hopes of fresh citrus juice a gardener planted a lemon tree. For the first 6 years it didn’t produce one lemon. Folks told him to trim the tree, so the gardener did, but no lemons. Others told him to fertilize it. The gardener did and no lemons. So the gardener gave up on it and bought a little orange tree instead. At least, he thought, he would have orange juice, if not lemonade. However, all of a sudden the lemon tree started producing lemons! It didn’t need better soil, more light, or more to fertilizer. All the lemon tree needed was cross pollination!

I'm reminded about how the parents of your students are depending on that cross-pollination factor. Sure, they can fertilizer and nurture their little seedlings and raise them in Jesus. But it's the cross-pollination of your influence that allows them to bud and produce! As these students ripen, the product of their fruit from your classroom will be sweet and refreshing.

Thanks for growing the goodness in students!
Mindy
