Counselor’s Corner - May 16 Issue
Dear Teachers,
In the winter, when Robin Hughes saw snow in the forecast for her sister's town of Danville, Kentucky, she called up her sibling and sang, "Do you want to build a snowman?"
A few months ago, Robin Hughes, called up her sister in Kentucky and sang, "Do you want to build a snowman?" Her question was as a Florida special education teacher, who felt convicted that her students needed to touch snow for the first time in their lives.
After receiving a call from Hughes asking for a snowman, Hughes' sister, Amber Estes, built an 18-inch tall snowman and overnight shipped the little guy via UPS for $78.
"Lucky the Snowman" arrived at the school in Riverview, Florida, on January 20, requiring Hughes to keep him in the school cafeteria's freezer and bring him out for a daily show.
When it came time to melt the snowman (as planned) for the school's Earth Day Celebration, the South Shore Charter Academy student body went out with Lucky. Taking all the memories and special learning moments surround snow, students gently poured Lucky's water onto their school garden for blooming and growing beyond the school year.
Like Robin Hughes, you have made learning fun and experiential this year. Moreover, your students have been captivated with how Jesus has come to life in your classroom. Guaranteed, as they leave your classrooms for the summer, all the memories and special learning moments that you've gently poured out will allow your students to bloom and grow beyond the school year.
LUCKY students!
