Competency for Eternity
Dear Teacher,
A viral video, entitled "People Who are Masters in Their Work," shows employees who are really good at their jobs. Just some of the featured show impressive skills like:
A restaurant dishwasher stacking metal trays like a poker player shuffling cards.
A fast food technician perfectly filling hundred of ketchup cups in seconds.
A migrant farm worker discarding baskets while simultaneously tossing all produce into a truckbed.
An event coordinator unfolding stacked chairs and rapidly sliding them into straight rows,
A construction worker strategically kicking long PVC pipes off a stack so that they perfectly roll onto a forklift.
An accountant rapidly inputting totals on a keyboard in data entry impressiveness.
A china packer vigorously stacking fragile plates in protective packing material.
As one watches, it's easy, as the viewer, to have a mindblown, jaw-dropped reaction to these workers who are pros at what they do and how they do it.
And you, teacher, also carry the title of "Person Who is a Master of Their Work." You, too, have followers: Students who daily view your behaviors and actions to emulate your Christlike example. You, too, daily show impressive skills like:
A substitute who instantly builds rapport with students, commanding their respect.
An administrator thoughtfully and graciously administering a Love-and-Logic response to a student's poor choice.
A high school teacher engaging students in a meaningful discussion on God and His relevance.
A preschool educator creating fun ways to teach students about personal body limits and respect.
An elementary coworker praying over her fellow colleague during a time of discouragement and hardship.
An office administrator warmly welcoming each student into a new school day.
A janitor diligently preparing the school for next-day safety and cleanliness.
As I watch you, it's easy, as the viewer, to have a mindblown, jaw-drop reaction, because YOU are pro at what you do and how you do it.
